Bit Literacy is essential reading for anyone who has experienced "digital overload": the daily flood of e-mail, multiple todo lists, a cluttered desktop, documents in various file formats, and the constant distraction of cell phones and other devices. More than a quick fix or another "how-to" guide, this book offers an entirely new way of attaining productivity that users at any level of expertise can put into action right away. This is "bit literacy," a method for working more productively in the digital age, with less stress. Mark Hurst - who has reached hundreds of thousands of readers through his Good Experience e-mail newsletter, Uncle Mark technology guides, thisisbroken.com, and other websites - has revealed the way to survive, and thrive, in the digital age: "Let the bits go."

Customer Rating: Summary: A must-read for all Comment: This is an excellent book, and a must read for all, even for computer-science majors.
It is written in an exceptionally clear language, and the ideas are so intuitive (I kept on saying to myself, yeah- why have I not done it like that all this time!)
I would recommend this book to all my friends and associates.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Book Comment: Bit Literacy helped me realize how inefficient my relationship with email and digital media was. I am now much more efficient and timely in my responses to associates and customers and it has certainly made a difference in the bottom line. Great book!
Customer Rating: Summary: From 1900 Emails to 0 in 1 Day! Comment: I was so mesmerized by this book that I read it nearly cover to cover in the in-between times during a recent college reunion weekend. I had to table the recommendations until several months later, when I returned to work after a week's vacation abroad. Determined to put the ideas into practice, I performed "email induction" using the steps outlined and got my inbox from 1900 messages to 0 in just one day - the first day I returned to work from vacation.
Since then, I've heralded the book on my IM status message and have sung its praises to anyone who complains of being overwhelmed by the stresses of knowledge work. Apparently, I've made several disciples of Bit Literacy and a few are giving the book as Holiday presents to family and colleagues this year!
Get Bit Literacy now and become 100x more productive.
Customer Rating: Summary: Quick Read - Great Advice Comment: I felt like every page of this book was speaking to me - it articulated the struggles I have with managing my digital life, and then gave me real concrete steps on how to regain control. It's a quick read and is very worth it. Also worth checking out the companion website, [...].
Customer Rating: Summary: Changed the way I work Comment: This book was on my must-read list for many many months and I'm very happy I finally got around to it. I was also someone that kept thousands of emails in my inbox - and was overwhelmed. I'm now down to zero for the second week in a row - and it's great! This approach, combined with the to do list tool (gootodo.com), has helped me be more productive, responsive, and effective in managing all communications. I've read tons of "productivity" books and this is hands-down the most useful and actionable and has made the biggest positive impact on how I work.
